The connective (BC) between ganglia may be short, as shown here, or longer. There are about 20 electrically coupled BAC (buccal A cluster) neurons per ganglion. Nerves: PBN (posterior buccal nerve), ET (esophageal trunk), LBN (lateral buccal nerve), VBN (ventral buccal nerve), CBC (cerebro-buccal connective). LBN, VBN, and CBC often leave the ganglia in a clump and do not separate until further away. PBNs arise from the rostral surface and may protrude in either the dorsal or the ventral direction after pinning. Cell locations and numberings come from Murphy (2001) and Ramakrishnan et al. (2014).
